Cumbria Police, like most other police forces, have a long history of covering up wrongdoing, mistreatment or misconduct by its staff. For example, in 2015/2016 Cumbria Police upheld 0% of their complaint investigation appeals (0 from 21) and was one of ten police forces who never upheld an appeal. I have found that when they did uphold an appeal or part of an appeal they only did it to the part that appealed against the incompetent or manipulative way the complaint was handled. None of the original complaints were upheld. They do this to massage their statistics and give the impression they uphold complaints when they dont. They have covered for a Cumbrian law firm Gedye & Sons, Grange-over-Sands, one of whose owner/directors moved to London, where he invited me to a meeting where he abused me , removed me as an active executor of my own African mothers will and caused me untold suffering. A complaint I made to CP was handled with dishonesty, disrespect, contempt, bias, manipulation and corruption by Sgt 1661 of Barrow Police Station. She wrote me and told me she should hear from me by Jan 31, but her letter was not posted until Jan 30 and only arrived on Jan 31! She then proceeded to send me an appalling response on Feb 1. She did this deliberately so that I would not have the chance to write her and tell her that I did not consent to my complaint being dealt with via the Local Resolution process, but that I wanted the Local Investigation process. I was supposed to have the chance to do this. I have found that they use Local Resolution to treat complaints shoddily, dismissively and disrespectfully. A previous complaint was treated this way. Her first letter was dated Jan 25 and sent on Jan 30, but her complaint response was both dated and sent on Feb 1. I think she had this response written even before Feb 1. Her response was no more than four short paragraphs of 3 and 4 lines and was dishonest, offensive, dismissive, rude, arrogant, highly one-sided and never once referred to anything in my complaint, which contained transcripts from an audio recording I made of the abusive treatment I received from staff of Gedye & Sons and from female PCs 2217 and 2408. She also never replied my letters, but spoke to Gedye & Sons solicitors, never verifying the lies they told her with me. I think this force is institutionally racist! Another day I was possibly the only black man in Grange. The houses there have names rather than numbers and I was writing some of these down when I was accosted by an aggressive and racist French district nurse who demanded to know why I was taking down a few house names, saying it was illegal. When I explained to her why I was taking down the unusual names, she acted as though it was ok and left me, but as I was just about to enter the train station, I was racially profiled and stopped by a Cumbria WPC, who suddenly pulled up in her car and had come from Barrow Police Station. She stopped me because the French nurse reported me for taking down a few unusual house names and told police I was from Nigeria! In an all white town? How racist! PC 2333 treated me like a criminal suspect and asked for my name, date of birth, address and phone number, even though we dont have to give any details in a Stop and Account (she didnt tell me that). I didnt want to but another Kendal Station PC had used my refusal to give my DOB as an excuse to arrest me before. Grange gets a lot of visitors, but I doubt that they treat any of the white visitors the way they have treated me. 2333 was very intrusive and even phoned the all white (in Grange and London) firm Gedye & Sons to speak to them about me. She took all my details to intimidate me and and even said she would phone me and is another example of Cumbria Police institutional racism. The PC also implied I should stay away from the town. As if! She should tell the racist joint Gedye & Sons director not to come to London and take advantage of black Londoners like me which is against Solicitors Regulation Authority rules and is professional misconduct.
